Hammerglass 12 mm in a steel frame satisfies the RABS requirements of
​
R43 - ECE Regulation No.43 (R43). A comprehensive series of tests for vehicle glass, including scratch protection, UV protection and elongation

AXE - Sharp object (EN 356, P8B), a test in which the screen withstands 72 blows from a machine-mounted axe, without the axe penetrating the glass.
​
BLAST - Pressure wave upon detonation (EN 13124-2, EXR 2), a test in which 3 kg (6.6 lbs) TNT are detonated at a distance of 3 meters (9.8 feet)

STONE - Heavy objects at high speed (EN 15152-2), a test in which a 1 kg (2.2 lbs)aluminium projectile is propelled against the screen at a speed of 450 km/h (280 mph) and at an angle of 90 degrees thereto. Equivalent to a large rock propelled at high speed.
Scratch Resistant
OEM windscreens get scratched by the windscreen wiper in normal mining and construction operating environments.

Hammerglass screens are coated with a thin layer of silicon oxide which protects against scratches and wear and tear. In sand-filled environments, however, we recommend that a ScreenSaver film is applied to the screen.
​
Nanotechnological surface treatment renders Hammerglass resistant to most chemicals - which enables simple graffiti removal, and helps to prevent pollutants from exhaust fumes, oil and asphalt from adhering to Hammerglass as easily as to ordinary glass. The surface treatment also provides 99.96% UV protection, which means the material will not cloud, discolour or undergo any other change in optical quality over time. Hammerglass does not contribute to the spreading of flames in the event of fire.
Explosion Resistant - RABS Approved
Undetonated explosives (duds), large rocks and boulders may pose a direct threat to the life of the machine driver. Where there is a risk of undetonated explosives being encountered, or where quarrying is in progress, Hammerglass should be used in the machine cab.

A series of tests in accordance with EN 13124-2 has been conducted on Hammerglass vehicle screens. Screens in a number of designs were mounted in various types of steel frames. Seven explosions were carried out, at a distance of 3 metres and 5 metres respectively. As a result it was demonstrated that 12 mm Hammerglass screens in steel frame withstand the pressure wave generated by 3 kg TNT being exploded at a distance of 3 metres

Solar Heat reduced by half
Hammerglass IR (Infrared) removes 45-55% of the incoming solar radiation. The screens are supplied in tinted Hammerglass IR.

Hammerglass IR absorbs the sun’s infrared rays (heat radiation) without any appreciable reduction in the light transmission (approximately 10%)
A cooler cabin with less solar heat exposure is a more pleasant environment to operate in.
Grid Free Clear Vision

The Hammerglass Guard solution gives you a complete driver protection that will withstand both explosions and stone projectiles.
Meanwhile, the driver has a clear view and does not have to look through grid during their work day.

Hammerglass IR screens cut the Solar Heat by 45-55% over traditional OEM glass. This reduction of incoming solar radiation means that the air-conditioning systems are able to operate more effectively.
